MEET A COX FARMER – Q&A with ROSIE, THE BBQ QUEEN!

Rosie and her smoker. It’s her favorite piece of Fall Festival kitchen equipment, as it should be! Customers rave about our pulled pork and chicken BBQ as well as Rosie’s homemade vinegar sauce. It’s delish!

Q: When did you start working at Cox Farms?

A: Oh my gosh! In 2001!

Q: Job title?

A: That depends on the season, I’m a manager in the spring and winter but in the fall I am the Food Captain.

Q: Where did you go to high school?

A: Woodbridge HS

Q: Family?

A: I’ve been married for almost 24 years and have two kids in college.

Q: Do you have any hidden talents?

A: I can cut hair and I’m pretty accomplished at training my cats to do tricks.

Q: What’s your favorite TV show?

A: Reality shows – Survivor, The Amazing Race, etc.

Q: Do you have a guilty pleasure?

A: Going to bed early if I want to.

Q: How do you spend your day off?

A: Canning pickles and tomatoes, working in my garden and cooking!

Q: Name one place you’ve never been but you’d like to visit.

A: Palau in the Western Pacific Ocean.

Q: Since you work all the seasons at Cox Farms, which one is your favorite?

A: Christmas! The smell of the trees and wreaths, the lights, Santa and our firepit…Love it!

Q: What’s new in food at the 2015 Fall Festival?

A: We now make our own seasoning rubs for our BBQ pork and chicken. And we’ve added more donut machines! More cider donuts!

Q: What is your favorite part of the Fall Festival?

A: Honestly? It’s seeing our employees grow and meet their potential. Whether it’s a teenager or a retired person, it’s just great to see them shine!

MEET A COX FARMER-Q&A with JEREMY W.

Cupcake JeremyToday we are getting to know another Cox Farmer and if by some small chance you don’t recognize him immediately, we know you are a big fan of his work! Although Jeremy works all the seasons at Cox Farms, he is probably best know for bringing those scrumptious cider donuts to life at the Fall Festival!

Q: So Jeremy-how many years have you worked at Cox Farms?

A: 5, this will upcoming Fall Festival will be my 6th.

Q: Do you have a nickname? If so, please explain.

A: “Cupcake Jeremy”. A coworker gave me the name because cupcakes are one of my baking specialties and I often bring them to work to share.

Q: Favorite thing to do on your day off?

A: Gardening and baking. I also like watching documentaries with friends. We call them “docuparties” and we bake and decorate cookies that go with the theme of the documentary.

Q: Favorite TV show?

A: “Doctor Who” 

Q: Do you have any pet peeves?

A: People who don’t enjoy the moment.

Q: If you could only make dinner with one person who would it be?

A: Cooking in and of itself is a journey of learning, creativity and expression. Sharing that opportunity with anyone is an opportunity your should never refuse. That being said and if I can only pick one; Batman.

Q: Name one place that you’d like to visit and have never been?

A: Mars

Q: What was your first job and worst job?

A: My first job was delivering a free local newspaper. Sometimes people didn’t want it so they’d throw it back at me.

Q: I hope that was your first and worst job!  Something worse than that?

A: The worst was spending a couple of days as a replacement window telemarketer. It wasn’t worth it. Hence why I only did it for a couple days.

Q: What’s your favorite Fall Festival food and cider donuts don’t count!

A: The grilled cheese sandwich.

Q: Favorite memory from any Fall Festival?

A: Smashing pumpkins from the hi-lift during Pumpkin Madness weekend.

Q: Who is your favorite coworker? No pressure!

A: That’s easy. It’s our farm cat, Black and White. She’s happy to see me every morning.
